According to Alan Kohler in his article, Video has not killed the bookworm, the advent of digital publishing has not killed off the book and may have even led to its rebirth. With eBooks being cheaper than their print counterparts, eReader and tablet sales are booming. Fiction is the most popular genre of eBook being published, and women over 45 are the top consumers. Even the publishers are happy that they are still needed but don't have to take the same risks in terms of paying advances and printing.
But with the latest allegations that some important players including Apple are guilty of eBook price fixing, the future competitiveness of eBooks does not look quite so rosy. Stay tuned!
